Who is mandated to report child abuse?
Answer
Currently, doctors, nurses, teachers and police are legally required to report cases of child abuse in Victoria. However, it is the responsibility of all professionals and the community to ensure that children are safe and protected.
All people have a duty of care to report to the Child Protection Service if they believe a child has suffered or is likely to suffer significant harm and the child's parent is unwilling or unable to protect the child from harm.
