In All Cases involving infants under the age of two years where protective issues are present Child Protection Workers will discuss SIDS risk factors with parents and ways to reduce these risks. Information about SIDS should also be provided to other responsible adults who act as caregivers to the baby.
When SIDS risk factors are present
Child Protection workers, who become aware that SIDS risk factors are present in combination with protective issues, are to consider a range of appropriate responses based on good practice and professional judgement. Responses may include but not be limited to:
