As part of new initiatives to increase support to victim/survivors of sexual assault, the Department of Human Services is advertising for submissions from experienced and suitably qualified training providers to develop and deliver training for new and advanced sexual assault workers in Victoria. Submissions are sought from experienced training professionals who have knowledge and understanding of sexual assault theory, research and clinical practice issues.
This project goes until August 2010.

How many years is the project over?
The project is over 3 years. Commencing August 2007 to June 2010
Is the training “ competency” based training
The training is not accredited training as described under the ATQF for community based training packages. However, the training is designed to increase the competencies of existing workers and to ensure that new workers obtain a sound foundation regarding the theoretical content and clinical skills required in practice.
How will blocks of training occur
The submission document outlines the process of training blocks, however, if bidders wish they can articulate their own processes for the design and frequency of training.
Will DHS pay for accommodation costs of training participants who come from rural or regional areas
no
Will rural or regional agencies be subsidised for worker replacement by DHS
no
Can minimum training days be 10?
No, the submission states that 20 days training is expected for new worker training and 20 days for advanced worker training.
Can the number of participants in training be greater than specified
In a one-off circumstance, for example, a visiting specialist, training may take on a wider number of sexual assault workers. However, this should not take the form of a forum for the entire sector. In relation to training workshops the numbers specified are so that workers achieve quality training and have the chance to explore issues of concern to them.
What is expected in the community package
The community package is expected to include relevant information about adult and child sexual assault for a broader audience. Particular modules within the package should be tailored for different audiences and particular professional groups. The package is intended as a resource for sexual assault agencies to use in their community education to local groups.
Are there any existing packages operating in Victoria
DHS is not aware of any existing packages operating widely across the sector.
How often will the Project Management Group meet
The group will meet for a maximum of monthly for the first six months and will reduce to quarterly for the remainder of the project
