Sponsoring relative children for migration (Victoria)

This leaflet explains what is required in order to obtain a permanent visa for a child who is related to you, when the child is to enter your permanent care. 'Orphan Relative' provisions are intended to cater for relative children who are coming into the care of Australian citizens or permanent residents because their natural parents cannot look after them. They may enter Australia under guardianship or formal custody provisions, though this is not essential for visa purposes. (Please note that the procedures described here are different from those required for sponsoring the migration of unrelated children on the basis of adoption).
