Voluntary child care agreements and the Children Youth and Families Act (CYFA)

The CYFA introduces some changes to the way in which child care agreements are to be managed in future. The most immediate of these is the need to make use of new child care agreement forms when placing a child or young person in a voluntary placement with the consent of their parents.

The short term and long term agreements are attached here in Word format. The areas of grey shading indicate areas where the agreements must be completed.

This draft guidance document provides further information. Please note that it is draft at this stage and will be the subject of further consultation and discussion with service providers and others at an upcoming Voluntary Placements forum, to be held before the end of July 2007. Further advice will be provided on the forum as details are confirmed.
