Research and monitoring
The Research and Coordinating Committee
The Children Youth and Families Division is frequently approached by researchers for assistance and approval to conduct research within the program areas. Some of these areas involve vulnerable children, young people and their families, such as child protection and youth justice.
The Research Coordinating Committee (RCC) was established in 2006 to deal with matters relating to research involving:
- Victorian children, young people and their families
- Staff members of the Division and its services
- Unpublished information or data
- Services delivered or funded by the Department.
The committees consider applications for research that involves Victorian children, young people and their families who are involved in Children Youth and Families Division programs. If you are unsure if your research involves these clients, the respective RCC Secretariat can provide advice.
Researchers can make applications for research access to: Victorian children, young people and their families who are clients of the either Children, Youth & Families Division; staff members; information or data; or services funded by DHS.
RCC considers applications in terms of the implications and benefits of the research to clients and the impact of supporting the research on DHS resources. RCC aims to facilitate and encourage high quality research that will be of benefit to the clients of Children, Youth and Families Division.
